Metallurgy
The development of our alloy took many steps and a lot of research and development. We looked at 8740 and decided it wasn’t strong enough. We brought in 4340, and pull test after pull test it fell short. At its best, it was as good as some of the industry. So from here, we went custom.
Through a testing process that took 6 months, 3 changes to heat treat, 3 changes to surface finishing, and an extensive series of tensile pull tests, we developed AT2800. This custom combination of steel, heat treatment, and surface finishing is providing a peak of 280,000 PSI ultimate strength, and 260,000 PSI of yield strength. We then armor the fastener in our proprietary surface finish to provide a 60-hour salt spray-rated surface that is extremely hard and scratch-resistant. The resulting product is a fastener that performs at the highest level of motorsport and under the most demanding applications.
Engineered for Performance
Metallurgy and quality are the cornerstones, but engineering and design are the difference. We run thousands of engineering simulations known as FEA on our fasteners to make our parts the strongest in the industry. Our rod bolts are lighter and stronger, our nuts and washers are wider and distribute the load better. Every piece is carefully tested in the computer and then tortured in the real world to make sure it delivers performance where it counts.
